Scottish Tunes'
" On the face of it just another trad rock set, but close your eyes and see the Lancaster bomber as it
flies across the North Sea. The crew are relaxed, thinking of home, not the mission ahead, the sun is shining. The 2nd part takes the tension up a gear, as the bomber crosses the enemy coast, sirens
begin to sound in the towns below, puffs of flak blossom in the sky, and a flight of German fighters take off into the haze. The 3rd movement sees the
fighters swoop onto their hapless prey as the great machine corkscrews vainly to avoid their attacks. The gunners reply valiantly from their turrets. Again and again the fighters dive and zoom, firing
incessantly until smoke begins to pour from their stricken opponent, and you can hear the dakadakadakadak of their guns, until the bomber banks over into its final descent and they follow it
down firing all the while...
